In
April
1998,
in
celebration
of
Mass
Art's
125
birthday,
Dorothy
Slmpson
Krause,
Karin
Schminke
and
Bonny
Lhotka
spent
two
weeks
as
Artists-in-Residence.
They
produced
a
portfolio
of
six
digital
transfers,
digigraphs.
The
images
were
printed
using
the
3M
Cactus
RIP
on
the
Encad
Novajet
Pro
50
on
QIS
film
and
transferred
to
Arches
30" x
22" rag
paper
in
an
edition
of
30.
Accompanied
by
an
essay
written
by
Dr.
Francine
Koslow
Miller,
the
completed
portfolio
was
presented
to
Kay
Sloan,
MassArt's
President
for
use
in
the
college's
fundraising
efforts.
At
a
retail
price
of
$800
per
image,
the
value
of
the
college's
fifteen
portfolios
of
six
images
is
$72,000;
this
gift
was
matched
by
the
State
of
Massachusetts.
During
their
residency
at
the
college,
they
were
filmed
for
a
segment
in
the
12
hour
ABC
News
Special, "History
of
the
Twentieth
Century".
They
will
introduce
the
program
entitled "Exploring
the
Unknown" which
focuses
on
flight,
space,
the
atomic
age
and
computer
technology.
They
also
hosted
a
lunch-time
presentation
and
a
day-long
seminar, "Beyond
the
Digital
Print" sharing
the
processes
they
have
developed
with
the
college
community
and
participants
from
across
the
country.
